At Georges River College Hurstville Campus, we recognise that every student has different strengths, interests and learning needs. We provide targeted support and extension to help all students achieve their personal best.

Learning and support: inclusion and growth

Our passionate learning and support team ensures every student is included, valued, and equipped with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of school life.

• a dedicated Learning and Support Team that identifies and coordinates support for students
• Learning and Support Teachers (LaST) and School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs)
• Small Group Tuition (SGT) providing targeted literacy and numeracy intervention
• evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs, including MacqLit
• differentiated learning and adjustments to meet individual student needs
• individual learning plans developed in consultation with students and families
• collaboration with families, school counsellors and external services where appropriate
• High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities providing extension, enrichment and challenge for students across intellectual, creative, social-emotional and physical domains.

High Potential and Gifted Education

Our HPGE program identifies and develops the talents of high potential and gifted students through differentiated classroom learning, enrichment and extension opportunities.

Students have access to selective and enrichment classes, academic competitions and opportunities such as debating, public speaking, robotics, ICAS and the Game Changer Challenge.

Our approach ensures students are appropriately challenged and supported to extend their capabilities, pursue their interests and achieve their potential.

Small group tuition

Our Small Group Tuition program provides targeted literacy and numeracy support for identified students. Small-group instruction allows learning to be tailored to students' needs while building the skills and confidence required for success in the classroom.

Support unit

Our dedicated Support Unit provides specialised and individualised learning for eligible students with additional learning needs.

Specialist teachers and School Learning Support Officers provide tailored support while ensuring students have opportunities to participate fully in the academic, social and extracurricular life of the school.
