High potential and gifted education

At GRC Hurstville Campus, we are committed to nurturing high-potential and gifted learners across the intellectual, creative, social-emotional, and physical domains.

Our approach aligns with the NSW Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education Policy, ensuring that every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach personal excellence.
We use evidence-informed practices including differentiation, explicit teaching, formative assessment, flexible grouping, advanced pathways, and a rich range of enrichment programs.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

Enrichment Class

The Enrichment Class is offered by application and caters for our selective stream, providing a rigorous and fast-paced learning environment for high-potential students. Learners engage in project-based and cross-curricular real-world tasks, personalised online programs such as Maths Pathway where they work at their own level, as well as advanced learning pathways and subject acceleration based on readiness. Through explicit teaching and ongoing formative assessment, students receive targeted extension that deepens understanding, builds higher-order thinking, and enables them to achieve their full academic potential.

Students design, build, and race solar-powered vehicles, applying STEM thinking and engineering skills in a competitive  challenge.
