Agricultural Technology

Teacher with students

What is the Subject About?

In this elective we will be concentrating on the practical aspects of the Stage 5 Agricultural Technology course.

We will be studying agricultural enterprises including organic fruit, vegetable and animal production. This will be done in a school garden to be established late 2013 and early 2014 and through farm visits.

We will also use ICT to study the commercial application of these enterprises. We would eventually like to provide students with their own organic produce to take home with them.

This subject develops student's ability to solve problems, plan, organise and conduct scientific investigations, research, collect and organise information, work as a member of a team and communicate information to a variety of audiences.

lf successful we could also start up enterprises in terms of supplying families and the local community with herbs and vegetables.
