At Hurstville Boys Campus we offer effective careers development to engage students with leading industry partners and vocational resources.
Our aim is to promote a culture of motivation, enjoyment, collaboration and adaptability, while ensuring individual needs are met.
Work Experience
Work experience activities are strongly focused on practical and industry skill development within a broad range of fields. In particular, a large number of year 10 students participate. Outcomes include skill development, industry networking and further opportunities for study or employment.
Quality work experience placements are made possible thanks to our industry partners within the business community. For example, this year Yamaha will provide 15 placements. Participants will learn about mechanical repair, parts interpreting, sales and administration roles. Boys will be involved in activities both at the Yamaha facility at Wetherill Park, and at Ultimo TAFE. This is a highly valuable opportunity for boys with relevant interest and skills.

Hybrid English and Careers program
Year 10 TAFE courses
A number of our students are attending a variety of TAFE courses 2 days a week. These courses run for 8 weeks in the areas of Building, Automotive and Hairdressing and are an excellent platform for gaining opportunities for apprenticeships or further skill development.
Career excursions
During the year a number of excursions and activities are organised for career development. Examples include:
- University activities
- White Card OH & S training
- Career exhibitions
- TAFE visits
- Yamaha facility excursion
