HSIE

Human Society and its Environment

The HSIE faculty at Hurstville Boys Campus incorporates a diverse range of subjects designed to provide students with an opportunity to undertake studies of their society and environment. Our faculty incorporates the study of core subjects in History and Geography, while at the same time providing students with an opportunity to also select are range of elective subjects in Years 9 and 10 in Commerce, Elective History and Work Education. Selective stream classes also run in Geography and History throughout Years 7 – 9 which provide opportunities for the most capable students to extend their learning and pursue further studies of interest within the curriculum.  These subjects have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the students so as to provide a worthwhile learning experience in a caring and supportive environment, delivered by skilled and experienced teachers. Throughout all subjects taught in the faculty, a strong emphasis is placed on the development of skills in literacy and information and communication technologies, while fieldwork and excursions are included in all curriculum areas.

Our aim is to:

1.      engage and challenge all students to maximise their individual talents and capabilities for lifelong learning

2.      enable all students to develop positive self-concepts.

3.      prepare all students for effective and responsible participation in their society.

4.      encourage and enable all students to enjoy learning.
